Road Trip: Day 8

Grant's Farm
Since our previous attempt was rained out, we headed there this morning. Despite the extreme temperates even at 9am, we had a very plesant visit. Upon our arrival we waited in line for the tram to take us to the farm location. We didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes to board the tram. During our wait, we stood under a covered bridge and then in the shade. With the breeze it was actually bearable to be outside. Grant's farm has a variety of animals on it's properity, my favorite was the long horn cows. Dan like the baby buffalo. We bought a special ticket that allowed the kids to each get 2 baby bottles with milk for the goats, a ride on the carousel, and a snow cone. Bella liked feeding the baby goats, Xander liked to tease them by letting them lick the nipple then moving on to the next goat. Charlotte wasn't so sure about feeding the goats. Even with daddy helping, she still wasn't completely convienced that they weren't going to get her. I do have the say with a bottle in hand, the goats did get very aggressive toward each other. They head butted so they could get in position to get the milk. The best part of the hot morning. Snow cones. Charlotte had cotton candy, Bella had blue raspberry and Xander had wild cherry. Mama ate most of Xander's because he doesn't like cold stuff too much, and Daddy help Charlotte. Bella ate her's right up.
We took the tram ride back to the parking lot where we started from. How can you come to Grant 's farm and not see the Clydesdales. We made the trek across the parking lot to the barn. I say trek because on a day were it is 100 degrees real temperature with close to 100% humidity at 11am and who knows how hot on the asphalt, it was a trek. Only 2 of them were in their stalls and taking a picture wasn't really possible. They are impressive animals.
Staying Indoors and Keeping Cool
We had time before going on to my other childhood friend's house; however, our options were limited since we didn't want to be out in the heat. We drove to Turtle Park. Had it not been so hot, the kids would have loved to climb on the huge cement turtles. They were of all different sizes. This one from head to tail probably measured 20 feet long. Next we went to the Art Museum. Not as crowded as the children's museum but still air conditioned. Plus they did have a small Egyptian exhibit with 3 mummies. Grounds infront of the Art Museum are beautiful. You might be thinking, what are you doing taking a 2 year old to the Art Museum. Well, he had fallen alseep in the van shortly, (which was the plan) and I transfered him to the stroller. He slept most of the time. Now wasn't more than an hour but it was enough time to look at the Egyptian stuff and the armor & swords exhibit. After our time at the museum, we headed to my friend's house about an hour out of town.

Our Evening
We had a nice time with my friend, his wife and 5 kids. Our kids were excited to play with toys and some new friends. Between our families we covered most ages. Newborn, 2, 2 1/2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9.
