My New Aquarium

It is now a week later and I decided to go back to the doctor because I didn't feel my body was responding the antibotics after 6 days. The doctor told me to wait it out until the antibotics are done and to use the Qvar inhaler 4 times a day. If I don't feel 50% better by Friday, I should come back in. That would be trip number three in less than 2 weeks. I guess that is one way to eat away at our $3,000 health insurance deductible. At this rate we won't be paying for any dr.'s visits starting in May. You may ask, " What does this have to do with your new aquarium?" I'm glad you asked. This is what the doctor told me: Your____ looks like an aquarium. Not exactly what I was hoping to hear nor encouraging information in regards to my recovery. What part do you think he was refering to? Is it my lung, ear or nose?

I always thought that if my kids wanted pets, I would be willing to invest in an aquarium. Until my neighbor told me that she had to give her fish antibotics for some type of infection. Then that idea went out the window. Who gives fish antibotics anyway? Before you start thinking that I am a fish hater, let me clarify my stance on all pets. Pets are fine in other peoples houses. Besides being allergic to cats and Bella being allergeric to both cats and dogs, I can't imaging adding cat or dog hair to all the mess of 5 people living in our house. I can't keep up the mess I currently have with no pets.

Our First Week of the New Year

This week has been a blur. I went to the doctor on the 3rd because I had a nasty cough that wouldn't quit. It ended up I had so much junk in my right lung the doctor couldn't hear any air movement. At least I still had one good lung to live on. Because I was trying to "rest", I didn't go to the grocery store upon returning home from our trip on Sunday. I scrounged up food for dinners, but by Tuesday Bella brought oatmeal to school for lunch. Just so you know she actually likes oatmeal and regularly brings warm dishes to school in her thermos. Xander woke up with a nasty cold on Wednesday, but with the threat of snow on Thursday, I didn't want to chance waiting one more day to go grocery shopping. That was a good thing because I took Xander to the doctor on Thursday with a yucky cough. I wanted to make sure he didn't have what I did. He didn't. However, he had a double ear infection on top of the cold and signs of pink eye. The doctor prescribed an antibotic that covered a multitude of ailments. After the morning visit to the doctor, he spiked a fever of 103 which didn't come down until 12 hours later. I hope and pray that this is not telling of what our 2011 will look like.

Christmas Cliff Notes

On December 18th we boarded a plane to Houston to visit Dan's side of the family and celebrate Christmas with them. We returned on the 22nd so that we could have Christmas proper in our house. The 29th we left for Chicago to visit my mom and dad's extended family then returned on January 2nd. Bella went back to school on the 3rd. The kids had lots of family time with us, their grandparents and my extended family. The kids loved every minute of it.
