Even There

Last night I received a phone call from one of the ladies I had asked to help with MOPPETS (childcare). Initially she told me that she could help in January or February. My goal with the MOPPETS workers was that were willing to help and if they could only do one or two months during the year that was fine with me. She proceeded to tell me that she couldn't stop thinking about MOPS since we last spoke 2 weeks ago. This must be God telling me that I am supposed to help every month she said. Wow!

Our verse this year for MOPS is Psalm 139:10 "Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." Even there He will be with you no matter what your going through. Even there He will be with the mom who is deployed to Afghanistan, even there He will be with the mom who recently lost her sister and is expecting her 3rd child, and even there he will be with the single moms who struggle to pay their bills.

I know that I am being guided, and held in His hand. Everything from speakers, to activities, to our fall fundraiser and most importantly the MOPPETS program has slowly come together. Even there He will be with me as I lead my MOPS group.

Happy Anniversary too me!

I'm at home, and Dan is in Ft. Worth. He has pnemonia and I have bronchitis and no voice. He won't come home until tomorrow, but we will both be sick and on antibotics when he does. This has to be the least romatic anniversary during our 9 years together. I did get a bouquet of pink roses from my sweet honey yesterday. You don't get to see a picture of them because my body is attached to the couch and it won't let me move to do anything.

MOPS Coordinator

To start, I am not an up front kind of person. I am a behind the scenes girl. Doing the newletter was the perfect outlet. I didn't want to do this job, but God called me to do it in February. So Monday night was the culmination of a summer's worth of work to make a great first impression on these ladies. This year about 80% are new, many of whom have never been to MOPS before and/or are not connected to a church.

Actually, I wasn't too concerned about the meeting because all the pieces were in place. What I didn't know how it would work was the childcare (MOPPETS). You see, this year there is not a MOPPETS Coordinator. I trusted that God would provide. When no one stepped up to take on the MOPPETS Coordinator job, I took that responsibility. Lesson planning, crafts, snacks, nametags, and finding workers among other things. By Friday, we had 50 kids registered for the program! The fact that we had 50 kids registered was not troubling, but that we lacked sufficient childcare workers. The entire weekend I wasn't feeling the love. Our meeting started at 6:30pm. At 6:20pm one of my table leaders asked if her mother-in-law could help. That was the answer I was looking for. God provided the extra worker we needed to get by. Also many of the moms that had RSVP did not actually show up or didn't end up bringing their children. The workers we did have was suffecient for the number of kids we had.

The bottom line: I survived and God provided; however, the countdown starts all over until next month.
