The Wildlife Love Us!

We woke up this morning and when we opened the curtains in the breakfast room, we saw a heart in the snow made by a bunny or a bird. This was their way of saying thank you for all the stale bread that I put out for them. Underneath all that snow is a patio that I haven't seen in weeks. If the birds and bunnies are out, spring can't be too far behind or at least I am hoping.

Eating Dougnuts

I sometimes refer to Little man as a puppy because his behavior is similar to a puppy. In case you are skeptical of my comparison here are a few examples: he has big hands and feet he has to grow into, he likes to play fetch, sometimes he slobbers a lot, he would rather eat off the floor than eat what is in his bowl, and now he is eating like a puppy.

An example of how a two year old should eat.

I thought I Smelled Something

I walked past Xander's room during naptime and smelled something. Then it registered. He must have gotten into the scented bags for dirty diapers. I opened up his door expecting for him to wake up but he didn't. I quietly left his room and ran to get the camera. I tiptoed back into his room and snapped the first shot, no movement. Then I got the close-up below. I guess I will need to put the bags out of his reach.

How is it that the crib with the front taken off makes his bed seem bigger than before. I am happy to say that he loves his big boy bed. Every naptime and bedtime he crawls into his bed with no crying. Obviously he doen't alway stay in his bed, but he does stay in his room. It is not often I get to take a pictures of any of my babies while they are sleeping.

Charlotte-ism

Last time I did a post on Charlotte's sayings "probably so" was the phrase. For some time it has been "can't know." I will ask her what do you want for breakfast? Can't know. What do you want to wear today? Can't know. What do you want to do today? Can't know.

One Difference Between Girl 1 and Girl 2

At night I tell girl two that I need to sleep with her because she is my luvy. "No," she says, "you sleep with daddy. I sleep by myself." "I don't think that Daddy would mind." "No," she insists. "You sleep in your bed. My bed is too small." she says. I love her independence and the expressions on her face during our conversations. Girl one with out hesitation would jump at the chance for Mama to sleep in her room.

Transition from Baby to Little Boy

I mentioned in my previous post about little man's crib escape on Friday. For his safety and my sanity, today we converted his crib into the toddler bed. I was not prepared, nor ready to have the stay in bed battle with my 21 month old son. Why you may ask? Let's just say that he is not as compliant as the girls were nor does he have a thumb or binky to help him sleep. He does have babies (luvies), but that is not the same. Naptime was the test, and he passed. I put him in and he stayed with no crying. Wow. I couldn't believe it. Then came bed time. The same. He climbed into his bed, I covered him up and he stayed there without crying. I guess he wanted to be in a big boy bed. All I care about is that he likes his "new" big boy bed and that we didn't have to visit the ER. I am still surprised that we haven't had to take him yet. For the first time, I get to use the baby comforter that you can't use in crib with babies, but comes with every crib set. He loves his his comforter because of the soft velour on it. On top of the new bed situation we have been potty training, so this transition is even more a reality. I am sort of sad to see the crib transition it's way out, but I am not sad to see the diapers go.

Future Olympic Pole Vaulter

On Friday, our very active son, pole vaulted himself out of his crib twice during nap time while in his sleep sack. I still don't know exactly how he did it. Needless to say, he didn't get a nap. We left for Indy Friday night. Pole vaulter fell asleep about the last half hour of the two hour trip. Not suprising since he didn't have a nap. I thought for sure that he would wake up and not go back to sleep once in the hotel. To my surprise, I got him out of his carseat carried him out in the bitter cold wrapped in my coat, walked through the lobby, and arrived at our room with not so much as a peep from him. This was about 8:30pm. The crib took an hour to come to our room. I didn't hold him that whole time. I laid him on one of the beds in the girl's room and he still didn't move. He transfered once, but twice? That's not going to happen. Not to mention I had to put him in a crib which, I'm sure he could figure out how to get out of. Around 9:30pm the crib came and I carefully picked him up at which point he fussed a little, but went right to sleep once I laid him down. For being in a hotel, we had a great set-up. Our room was a suite with two rooms. The girls each had their own bed in one room, pole vaulter slept in the crib in the main area, and we had our own room. So why would we in the middle of winter go to Indy for the weekend? The fantastic children's museum, and just to get away. Indy has a great zoo too, but it was a tad bit chilly this time around.

I will be making bread for sometime

As we walked out of church, Bella asked what we were having for lunch. "Spaghetti with yummy bread (sourdough)," I told her. "Mama, for lunch tomorrow can I have a sandwich with the yummy bread you made?" "I will have to make some more today," I responed. I am so happy that the kids love the wheat bread I made this last week; however, now I will have to make it at least once a week to keep up with our family's demand.

I Had a Dream...

I come out of the bathroom on Sunday morning, and Bella was standing right there in the dark as I opened the door. I jumped at the sight of her because I had not heard anyone outside. She thought I was in bed and wanted huggies. We climbed into bed with Daddy for some cuddles. She tells me that she is hungry. "Ok, what would you like to eat?" "I had a dream," she begins "where our whole family went to the doughnut shop to eat doughnuts. Me, Mama, Daddy, Xander and Charlotte." She concluded. This is not at all what I was expecting so early on Sunday morning. Her little speech convinced Daddy that we need doughnuts for breakfast. He decided to get the doughnuts and bring them home, since we had to get ready for church.
