First day of School

Welcome to 1st Grade!
You can't tell from this picture, but her back pack is overflowing with school supplies and her lunch box. And that white grocery bag, more school supplies. The overflow from her backpack. Mama didn't think to bring them the night before when we went to the open house.

Playing in the Rain

It rained this morning after we returned from doing an errand. I told the girls that they could play in their swim suits in the rain. I gave them some plastic containers to collect the rain. After some time, Xander figured out that the gutter spout put out a lot of water. I sat in the garage taking pictures. No need for mama to get wet.

This is amazing

The day started at 5:30am with Xander crying and saying that there were monsters in his room. Bella had been up for some time in her room with the light on. Well, I was going to wake them up around 6am anyway so Daddy could see them before we left.

This was the first road trip with Xander not screaming for long bouts at a time. Yeah, I know, I drug these kids on another road trip one week and a few days after our very, very long vacation. Well, you tell my kids' Grammy that I'm not coming because the kids have been strapped to their carseats too many days in row. They have had a week to get over it. Apparently, Xander had because he did so well today. No screaming fits, and no crying after his 1 hour nap (not nearly enough). He woke up happy today. I have to say that I didn't push to get to Grammy's house. About an hour away from home we stopped at a rest area for Xander to go to the bathroom. I brought the potty chair, but he refused to use it. He wanted a "bafroom". Yet another gross, dirty potty that we must visit. Another hour and a half later, we stopped for coffee and treats and to visit the bathroom once upon arrival and once before leaving. Xander's real motivation for going to the potty is getting to wash his hands. Then another hour and a half and we stopped at Fair Oaks Dairy in the middle of nowhere Indiana. We have passed this place many a times on our way to Grammy's house before but never have stopped to visit. I'm glad that I looked into it prior to our trip. There were indoor activities like trying to milk a cow, a small play area for those 6 and under and a 3D movie. We didn't do the movie. The last 3D movie we took Xander to, he refused to wear the glasses, plus we didn't need more sitting when the purpose of stopping was to get out some energy. We took the bus tour to where the cows were feeding and went to an observtion deck to watch the cows being milked. Outside they had small electric tractors the kids could ride on and a play area. A large inflated pillow for the kids to jump on, and a 20 foot milk jug that was a climbing wall on the 4 sides. We visited the birthing barn and saw 2 baby calves that were born that morning. We spent almost 2 hours playing. Definately worth the price of admission which was a little expensive, but the kids had a great time.
